Live Commentary

  • 90+1 That's it! Milan have come out of the winter break all guns blazing! High-flying Napoli have been turned over at the San Siro, and you can rest assured it'll be Pato who grabs all the headlines tomorrow! Thanks for joining us, ciao!
  • 90' Seedorf and Pato are content to knock it to each other on the left wing. Gargano has had enough of it and fouls Pato... and gets a red card!! That seems extremely harsh, especially in the final minute!
  • 85' Milan have crowded the midfield area now, and with the influential Hamsik off the pitch Napoli are offering little sign that they can reduce the deficit.
  • 80' It's Andrea Pirlo's turn for a standing ovation as he makes way for Gourcuff, though in truth he has had a quiet game by his standards.
  • 78' Pato squares up to fire a half-volley inside the area... SAVED BY IEZZO!!
  • 77' The impressive Hamsik is taken off to be replaced by Dalla Bona
  • 72' GOL!! Pato opens his Milan account! His first touch form a long ball leaves Domizzi for dead and his second is a cheeky finish underneath Iezzo! He salutes the crowd and kisses the badge... Could this be the dawn of a new era?
  • 69' Ronaldo gets a standing ovation as he is the man brought off for Emerson.
  • 68' GOLACCIO!! Kaka turns his man on the edge of the box and fires a spectacular strike past Iezzo into the bottom corner! 4-2 Milan and surely it's game over now!
  • 66' Pato beats Cupi with a swift turn, but then slips over! Emerson is taking his track suit off. It looks like Ancelotti is planning to close up early.
  • 64' Pirlo is standing over a free kick on the right wing. He tricks everyone by cutting it low across the edge of the box, and the move breaks down. Disappointing from the dead-ball specialist.
  • 61' After the frantic pace of the first half, it's perhaps no surprise that the second has been somewhat more of a cagey affair. Since the goal anyway!
  • 59' Bogliacino can't continue, and is replaced by Montervino
  • 55' He's back on, and will continue for the time being at least.
  • 54' Bogliacino is down and seemingly in a lot of pain in the area. He limps off to receive more treatment.
  • 50' Garics has time and space to try a shot from 30 yards out. HE STRIKES... Dida tips the shot over for a corner!
  • 46' GOL!! No sooner has the second half started than Milan take the lead for a third time! Seedorf's inviting cross is met with a diving header from Ronaldo, who nods in his second of the game! Never mind Pato, it's the Brazilian veteran who's carrying Milan's hopes!
  • 46' No changes at half time, and the second half is underway.
  • 45+2 Half time is called at the San Siro. Milan's stuttering season continues, though Pato's eventful half shows room for some optimism, while Napoli's counter-attacking gameplan has worked well so far.
  • 45+1 Pirlo whips in a free kick from out on the left wing to RONALDO AT THE FAR POST... Somehow the Brazilian misses it and Napoli have a goal kick.
  • 42' Grygory Garics controls a crossfield ball superbly, but this cross is less inspiring. A tense few minutes since the penalty, as neither side wants to concede another beofre half time.
  • 37' GOL!! Domizzi rolls the spot kick calmly into the bottom left corner, and it's 2-2!
  • 36' PENALTY!! Kaladze sends Lavezzi tumbling, and the referee instantly points to the spot. Domizzi will take...
  • 33' Pato works some space with his first touch and tries a VOLLEY... SAVED BY IEZZO! It was a tight angle but a crisp volley from Pato!
  • 31' GOL!! Milan back in front!! Ronaldo plays in Pato, who has his inital shot and then the rebound saved by Iezzo, but Clarence Seedorf is there to hammer the ball into the roof of the net! What a game!
  • 27' GOL!! Another quick break by Napoli culminates with Lavezzi steering a long ball with one-touch right into the path of the onrushing Sosa, whose delicate finish rolls past Dida for the equaliser! A fantastic goal!!
  • 25' Hamsik bursts through the Milan defence and spreads the ball out to sosa, but his ball across the box to Lavezzi was poor and took all the momentum out of the move.
  • 23' Two bad touches from Pato in quick succession both go out for throw-ins. The adrenaline from his debut seems to have gone and the nerves are resurfacing for the 18-year-old.
  • 20' The net is fixed, and the corner is cleared for a throw. Not worth the wait really.
  • 18' Milan have a corner, but there's a hold-up as part of the net has come loose. Pato gets another cheer as he is lifted up to try and re-attach it, before a groundsman comes on to do the job properly!
  • 15' GOL!! Ronaldo is through on goal and his shot hits Iezzo and loops over him and goalbound... Pato is there to nod it in on the line as Cupi hacks it clear off the bar... Was it over? It was! 1-0 Milan! It'll go down as Ronaldo's goal! Pato didn't actually get a touch.
  • 14' The ball bounces over Bonera and SOSA COULD BE IN... Great recovering tackle by Bonera!
  • 13' Pato tries a dribble into the box, but finds his way blocked. He goes out wide and dinks in a cross, but it's easy for the keeper.
  • 12' Savini hoists a cross high into the Milan box... Sosa is under it to challenge Dida. The Brazilian keeper makes the catch comfortably.
  • 11' Seedorf finds Kaka in a central position. The Brazilian tries his luck... His effort is comfortably over the bar.
  • 9' Ronaldo is fed by Kaka in the area, but his first time gets the ball stuck under his feet and in the blink of an eye he's covered by two defenders.
  • 8' Hamsik goes on a run that takes two Milan players with him. He stabs through a ball to Lavezzi, who is in on goal... Offside! Good play by Hamsik.
  • 6' Maldini cuts inside and plays a one-two. The return pass sends him wide and his cross doesn't beat the goalkeeper.
  • 4' Napoli have barely had a touch in the opening few minutes. They have the Milan forwards man-marked, reducing them to long balls that invariably go right through to Iezzo.
  • 1' Pato's first action in a Milan shirt is to chase down a Seedorf through ball and foul Cannavaro as he hustles for it. A big cheer goes around the San Siro!
  • 1' Welcome to eurosport.yahoo.com's LIVE coverage of Milan v Napoli! Brazilian 18-year-old wunderkind Alexandre Pato will finally make his debut for Milan, as the European champions start their push to rescue their season, which so far has been frankly disastrous! The match is underway!

AC Milan

AC Milan fans look set to finally see striker Alexandre Pato in Serie A action on Sunday. The young Brazilian made the switch to the Rossoneri in the summer but has not been able to feature due to restrictions on the number of foreign players that can be registered each year. Boss Carlo Ancelotti looks set to hand the highly-rated youngster a start for this weekend's home clash against Napoli. Combative midfielder Gennaro Gattuso is suspended so Cristian Brocchi should fill in. Clarence Seedorf and Filippo Inzaghi are unavailable through injury.
